Linx 9800 Series continuous inkjet printers

The Linx 9800 Series is designed for manufacturers who need coding to work reliably every day without adding pressure to the production floor. From food and beverage to pharmaceutical, personal care, industrial, and packaging applications, the series helps teams print clear batch codes, date codes, lot numbers, barcodes, GS1 Data Matrix codes, and traceability information across a wide range of substrates.

Built from direct customer feedback, the Linx 9800 Series keeps the qualities Linx is known for: dependable performance, intuitive operation, and proven quality. The range adds enhanced features that help maximize uptime, simplify daily operation, reduce operator error, and make printing one less thing to worry about.

The range includes multiple models to match different production needs: the Linx 9810 for reliable everyday coding, the Linx 9820 for higher throughput, the Linx 9830 for increased print capability with less maintenance, the Linx 9840 for demanding high-speed applications, and the Linx 9840 Spectrum for high-contrast coding on dark products. With automatic printhead cleaning, battery backup, fast message changes, integrated vision inspection, GS1-ready code creation, remote monitoring, and lower ink and solvent usage, the Linx 9800 Series helps production teams reduce downtime, improve changeover efficiency, protect code quality, and control operating costs.

Built to reduce coding downtime

The Linx 9800 Series is designed to help eliminate unplanned downtime caused by common printhead faults, blocked nozzles, sudden power loss, or slow restarts. Its AutoFlush routine helps prevent blocked nozzles during start and stop cycles, while the SureClean wash station can clean critical printhead components with 11 precisely positioned jets and dry the printhead in under 5 minutes.

The Linx PrintProtect battery backup helps keep production moving during short power interruptions. If power is lost, printing can continue for up to 3 minutes, and if power is not restored, the printer runs a full shutdown routine to prevent blocked nozzles. For line moves, the system provides up to 9 minutes with the jet running on battery power, helping teams move the printer and start printing again immediately.

Designed for faster, more accurate changeovers

Fast changeovers matter when production teams manage multiple SKUs, packaging formats, and operators. The Linx 9800 Series supports fast message creation and switching through Linx Message Studio, product image selection, QuickSwitch message selection from external devices or barcode scanners, and up to 50 stored line settings for repeatable setup.

Code confidence without manual inspection

The optional Linx Iris vision system helps verify that every product is printed with the correct code in the correct position. It can detect missing codes, incorrect positioning, truncated text, missing characters, invalid dates, overlapping characters, distorted characters, and other print issues. If a failed or missing code is detected, the system can trigger printer alarm outputs to alert the operator or stop the production line.

Simple operation for real production teams

The Linx 9800 Series includes an intuitive icon-led touchscreen interface designed for easy message selection and printer operation. The touchscreen is responsive even when operators are wearing gloves, and the protective membrane is resistant to alcohol and solvent for worry-free cleaning. Operators can also switch screen language quickly, follow guided maintenance wizards, and create GS1-compliant Data Matrix codes using a step-by-step builder.

Lower running costs over time

The Linx 9800 Series is designed to reduce the cost of keeping a printer running. Active Airflow Control can reduce solvent consumption by up to 42%, while the optional 50 micron printhead can reduce ink use by up to 48%. The EasiChange service module can be serviced in 30 minutes with only 0.5 liters of ink changed, and service intervals can reach up to 24 months depending on the model and application.

Ink options for almost any application

Linx offers a wide ink range for general-purpose coding, colored coding, plastic substrates, process-specific applications, security marking, and enhanced EHS compliance. Available options include MEK-free, halogen-free, non-CMR, and PFAS-free inks to support safer handling, workplace air quality, and evolving regulatory requirements.

Benefits

  • Reduced unplanned downtime: AutoFlush, automatic printhead cleaning, and printhead cleaning reminders help prevent blocked nozzles and ink build-up before they stop the line.
  • Built-in protection during power loss: Linx PrintProtect battery backup allows printing to continue for up to 3 minutes during short power interruptions and protects the printhead with a controlled shutdown if power is not restored.
  • Faster line changeovers: QuickSwitch, Linx Message Studio, product picture selection, and stored line settings help operators change messages and line setups quickly with fewer errors.
  • Greater code confidence: The optional Linx Iris vision system helps confirm that every code is present, correct, readable, and positioned properly.
  • Lower operating costs: Active Airflow Control can reduce solvent consumption by up to 42%, while the optional 50 micron printhead can reduce ink use by up to 48%.
  • Simpler operator experience: The 7-inch color touchscreen, icon-led interface, quick language selection, prompted fields, and guided maintenance wizards help reduce training needs and operator mistakes.
  • GS1-ready coding: Built-in GS1 Data Matrix code creation helps teams produce compliant codes through a guided, step-by-step process.
  • Remote visibility: Linx PrinterNet allows teams to monitor printer health, job status, production insights, and low-fluid alerts from a PC, tablet, or smartphone.
  • Flexible model range: Choose from everyday coding, higher-throughput coding, advanced print capability, high-speed demanding applications, or high-opacity dark-substrate coding.
  • Wide ink compatibility: Available ink options support porous and non-porous materials, plastics, glass, metal, paper, card, colored substrates, security applications, and challenging post-coding processes.
